The "Red Rose" is actually small community theatre, but doesn't get a lot of acts, so it now really makes a living as a venue for hard-core rock and punk fans.
Gasworks Promotions hire it out so's it can paly host to some of the best alternative rock and ska/punk bands on national tours, as well as being a breeding ground for underground and unsigned bands.
Two rooms, with 3 resident DJs in the bar room playing the best in alt Rock, metal, punk and ska, and a 300 standing capacity auditorium for live music.
A full in-house PA & lighting rig as well as a large stage means that it is one of the bigger smaller venues. A program of intimate gigs by larger bands is currently happening at the Rose.
Prices are usually £4 - £10 depending on who is playing.
The bar is always open, serving alcohol and soft drinks, so 14+ kids can always get in, but of course they cannot get served alcohol!
